Mine will consume mass quantities of duck weed, water lettuce, romaine lettuce etc. I add it to the water regularly, and usually by morning it is completely gone. You'd be amazed how they can clean up every little leaf of duckweed. They must spend hours eating it as it is so tiny. They seem to eat just about any kind of plant material(non poisonous). They are like little garbage disposals.

:Any suggestions on how to get them to eat vegetation in general? Since my two commons were hatchlings I haven't been able to get either of them to try any kind of vegetation. The bigger one has grabbed some greens but spit it out right away. Any suggestions on a specific type of vegetation or the best way to get them to eat it? Thanks. -Phew
