Five-lined Skink?

this is a skink i caught yesterday in Bedford County, Virginia where i live. i'm just trying to figure out whether it's Five-lined or Broad-headed. the field guide i'm using is kind of confusing. both species seem to be very similar in description. apparently the only means of differentiation is on what scale row(s) the dorsolateral stripe is located. what exactly is the dorsolateral stripe on these animals?
