: I work for the U.S. Post Office and the only mail they are "nuking" is mail sent to Washington DC. I jsut had two turtles shipped to me using 2 day pirority mail and they came through just fine. I think the people that are spending big money to ship over night are just wasting money. Turtles are very hardy and taking a extra day for shipping is no problem for them. I once read that the old time sailing ships would take galapagos island tortoise's, and tie them up side down on the decks of the ship to use as fresh food for up to six months.
