fedex, airborne, ups etc dont base shipping cost on the actual weight of the box, they base it on the "dimentional weight" of the box. In essence the amount of space the box takes up and the potential weight of the box. So you could have a box that was 4x3x2 and less than 1 lb and that would cost you more than a box that was 1x1x1 and weighed 10 lbs. Also, the shipping cost is lower if you have an account.
