I'm still fairly new to the San Diego area (been here almost 4 months) so I don't know to many places you can legally go herping yet. I drive 2 hours east to the desert a lot and skim around the edges of state parks with the "do not get off trail!" rule. I have identified 19 species of reptile so far and have gotten good pic's of a 15: Speckled Rattlers, Southern Pacific Diamondbacks, a Red Diamond, a Night Snake, a Western Shovel-nosed Snake, a Western Blind Snake, Granite Spiny Lizards, Granite Night Lizards, Side-blotched Lizards, Sage Brushes, Western Fences (of course), Western Whiptails, a Western Skink, a Southern Alligator Lizard, and Desert Iguanas. I am having trouble locating Banded geckos (which are supposed to be common) Collared Lizards, Banded Rock Lizards, Leopard lizards, Rosy Boas, etc..... I would really like to photograph Banded Geckos because of the great diversity in color and pattern that I see in pic's. If anyone has any suggestions or would like to set up a meeting to go herping around here, please let me know. and thank you for your previous suggestions on Horned Lizards.
