Searching for information

my partner an I are curious to know if by any chance anyone knew what it was about the smell that wild snakes excrete when caught that sends our canine companions running? We are currently working out an experiment to find the answer ourselves and are curious if anyone may be able to lend a hand in so far as knowing if there is any related data which may be of help. So far we have only tested a few dogs and they have all had the same reaction which is escape. We are also interested in having a chemical analysis performed to determine what is the actual substances contained within the excretion of the snakes anal glands. Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and patience.
