Field Herpin .... Suggestions wanted!

Hiya All!
I check this forum from time to time ... but there is so little activity it amazes me! But I digress :P ....

Recently I did a field trip to a spot near the Otay border area where I knew there were lots of snakes. 4 hours later I was still looking for my first! I had seen Rattlesnakes, Rosy Boa's and other reptiles before ... but this time absolutely nothing!

As this is really the only good "hot spot" that I know of, I was wondering if anyone else had good field herpin spots? I enjoy finding animals in the wild ... and leaving them there! I am not interested in collecting w/c snakes and introducing problems to my own stock ... just like the adventure of the chase ....
anyone wish to share ideas with me?
