Hi Bridget,
A good rule of thumb for Beardeds is 4 square feet of ground space per adult animal. Thats a 2x2 cage. This is about the smallest I can recommend. You don't want to start off with anything large though. You can raise one for the first few months in a 20 gallon tank and then move it to a larger cage. As far as the placing of your cage goes its really up to you. I used to have them in my living room and they did fine. Now they're in my designated reptile room and still doing fine. I would avoid any area that might have a large stereo in it or one with a loud bird or cat. I'm in Lemon Grove. If you want to come check ours out give me a call 667-4211.
Thanks,
Joe
