Thansk for the help Dennis, it did turn out to be a hog' but she has also had another snake, or rather 3 she cannot identify. She lives in NC on Hatteras Island. These snakes were less than a foot long, fairly fat and greenish-brown in colour. The only thing I can think of is baby rattlers but i'm not sure of the snakes that are around in that area. Hope soemone out there can help with this one!

: Sounds like a hognose (if it is in the US). Have them look at the photos on my website for positive identification.
