Okay, what you obviously need to do is get another snake which will bat cleanup for you, so to speak. One that will willingly eat any old nasty food item left over after your OTHER animals have fed. My choice for this utility player is a bullsnake or black ratsnake.
An interesting thread someone should start is: What's the most disgusting thing you've ever tried to feed a snake?
