Sorry I couldn't post this as a follow-up, but for some reason I couldn't open the follow-up form.
Thanks to Jason & BlueRosy for the info. A friend suggested another possibility: he thinks that given her plumpness, the time of year and her age, she may be ovulating and in a "mood." His suggestion is to not handle her for a couple weeks, then try again. She seems unimpressed by lemon juice or vinegar on my hands -- that technique simply means that, along with teeth marks, I get to deal with the sting those liquids cause. She doesn't like the taste of the Playtex dish-washing gloves, but I can't get too excited about having to "suit up" each time I handle her. Perhaps BlueRosy is right...I should be thankful that she is a great eater and a healthy snake. It's just that I used to let her curl around my neck while I did stuff around the house, though, and it'll be a LONG time before I feel confident enough to try that again. :-) Thanks again for your replies!Happy herping!
