Go with getting babies at first (since you are in no hurry). This way, if you can raise the babies with no problem, when your babies become adults and breed, you will have no problem raising their babies.
I usually house only 1.1,1.2, or 1.3, but that is just the way I do it. I know some people that house 5.5, but I would not suggest that. This is just my opinion. You will just have to see what works best for you and your cresteds. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.
