Sue,
You are too kind, thank you so much for the nice comments =). Using a damp q-tip was the right route, however sometimes the pieces are too small or just in a hard to reach area where it cannot be rubbed off easily. In these cases moisten the area just like you did before and remove it with a fine point tweezers. Since it is near his eye you have to be extremely careful, since my guys are pretty calm it should not be a problem though. I have to this every once in awhile with our geckos, esp one of our rescue day geckos. It prob would be fine if it was just left there, but I like to make sure all shed is removed after shedding. Anyway if there is anything else just ask =).
