Crested geckos are polymorphic, meaning their color and patterns are based on a number of gene combinations.  It is not as simple as breeding two hets and getting a homozygous recessive animal like in other reptiles.  Breeding two similar animals will not always give you similar offspring.  But that is the fun of it =)
