We have two cresties coming on Tuesday from sandfiredragonranch. We are trying to get the cage set up today. I have a few questions:
First, the one gecko is known to be a male and larger (older) than the other. The second is probably a female, but too small to know for sure yet.
We have an available 50 gallon aquarium. It is 17 inches tall. Would that extra inch lacking be an issue (since a 10 gal tall would be 18 tall)? We were thinking about putting a divider in the middle and basically having two areas that are 18x18x17. We would divide the tank with plexiglass and silicone. Since they might both end up being males, we thought this would be good for seperating them if needed.
We have an available 22 gal reptarium that we could get the tall liner for. Would that be a better option? But then it would be harder to split them if needed.
That all leads to the first real question - since the cresties are different sizes, do we put them together to start with and seperate them later if needed OR seperate them to begin with until they are both closer in size?
Our intent is to use papertowels at the bottom, have live potted plants, a climbing branch, a hide box and bowls. We are off to buy plants. :-)
BTW, we have a "critter room" and many other animals already. These are our first geckos of any sort.
