Josh is right; no way possible a mealworm could survive. What usually happens is the animal dies. Free roaming mealworms lost during feeding quickly find the body in search of food and water and chew their way IN to it. When people find that the animal is dead (usually next morning or after work, whatever) they see the mealworms in the belly and automatically think they survived the digestive process and chewed their way out. The animals usually die from other means, not mealworms, it’s just an old myth.
