Where are the lesions exactly? Are they on his nose or over his eyes? If they are on his nose it could be from him rubbing up against his tank walls or screen lid. If they are on his head they could be scratches from cage décor as he pushed his way through it. I do not think it would be from the female, if he was attempting to copulate he would be over her not under her. So it would be normal for her to get the scratches from him not the other way around. It is mostly likely from one of the first two. Either way if the wounds look raw make sure they are kept clean.
