Now that I've seen the actual product, the heat rope doesn't sound like such a bad idea. My only question is how are you planning on applying it to the enclosure? If you got an empty corkbark (or anything for that matter) log that Yoshi couldn't fit into or that you put endcaps on, then you could put the actual rope inside the log to create a heated perch. Just a thought.
Watch out for those heat emitters they get really hot, plus you can't tell when they're on or not just by looking at them. My mom actually burnt a hole in my floor when she placed the dome light w/the heat emitter on the floor. My room smelled for weeks. lol
