I have to agree with Ian on this one. Heat mats are designed to go under cages where the heat has no where to go but up through the soil. It works the same way in rack systems when the heat is mounted vertically. It is blocked on all sides and has no choice but to radiate out past the Rubbermaids, heating them up in the process. For that reason I def recommend using heat lamps (the ceramic heat emitter would be fine to) for any arboreal species of reptile, leave the UTH for terrestrial geckos. If you have a lot of animals do what we do, just crank up the heat for the entire room. Makes life easier if you can do it =)
