Sue don’t worry he will be perfectly fine. We also have one tailless male. We were cleaning his cage one day and “poof” he just dropped it without us even touching him. They sometimes just get really scared. I am still extremely happy that you bought one of our geckos, despite the accident (that’s all it was), because I KNOW he is in the best of care =). So do not give it a second thought, these things happen sometimes regardless of how careful we are.

As for treatment, none is really necessary. The skin around the break automatically folds inwards and closes it up pretty well. If it is dirty you can use a q-tip and some water to clean it up. Otherwise just keep him on paper towels if he isn’t already. He will be back to normal in no time.

So please do not be upset. These guys have evolved to drop their tail, which is a natural mechanism for them. And like I said he could not be in better hands =)
