Screen cages are not a good choice for a couple of reasons. One is that it is hard to keep humidity in. Crested geckos come from New Caledonia which has higher percentage humidity level. Cresties need the humidity to aid in shedding and from my experience with other animals in screen cages shedding problems occured more often. Secondly, it is harder to heat screen cages. This isn't a problem if you live in a state that doesn't have really cold temperatures, but where I'm from it is a problem. Another big problem is that screening can cause bad nose damage to reptiles. Glass is the way to go for cresteds. It holds both humidity and heat better, plus is easier on the animals nose. If you plan on breeding, but want to save money then you can do what I and several other breeders do by keeping them in plastic containers. I won't go into details now, but if you are interested in how I make mine I can post later.
