Well Monte there is only a 1/4" if that space on top, so impossible for adults (only large to adult animals go in those racks)to escape........knock on wood =). When i build the rack i leave the Rubbermaid's lid on for spacing purposes. Then when i place them in the rack with the lid off, i have a perfect gap. You could also use a piece of scrap wood for your spacing. Ill take those pics though while i am building it and post them for you. Hopefully this afternoon ill have it finished, if not def by tomorrow.
