Crested geckos have a thicker and less transparent skin than leopard geckos do. If you have a REALLY strong light then it might be possible to make them out. The more likely way to spot them is to see the slight bulging at the sides, however most of the times the animals are to well feed. Over calcification is not a common thing, I have only heard of it on a few occasions. Under calcification is more likely. Although with all the info out there now on crested care, both are usually not a problem anymore. I dust my crix a few times a week also. During the breeding season when they need the extra supplements, I provide the dish of calcium. This way they can take it, as they need it. I have been breeding and raising geckos like this for years, and it has always worked like a charm. But hey just because it works for me doesn’t mean it will for you. That’s the thing about this hobby everybody does something different =)
