Caging

Hey can anyone suggest a good site for naturalistic cage design or building a cage? Is it better to start out w/ a sexed animal or a hatchling? Last, my dad's nurse gave me and old 10 gal. ( I think) would it be good to put some paper towels down, andsome plastic pothos, and a shelter down and put the cresty in it while I convert or build a more naturalistic setup? (The last two questions lead up to the frist sorry :(
