:I personally think age is more important then an animals weight or size (weight being secondary). Young animals can sometimes weigh as much as an adult, just like an overweight human child can. However it does not mean they are capable or ready to reproduce. In the case of crested geckos maturity is usually 12 months, of course it can happen earlier or later then that, it all depends on the individual (just like us they are all different). Since there is no sure way to know if they are ready, I prefer to wait a few extra months. This way I am sure, and there will be no complications (infertile eggs, egg binding, etc). After all why would you want to put a female through the stress of laying if all the eggs are going to be infertile anyway? Just my opinion and some food for thought =)
