Does he lick it directly from his vent? If so then it is not urates, its semen. Yes you read that right, for some reason male cresties get excited easily, and after they do they clean them selves. All of our males display this behavior; even the young ones have been seen doing it. It happens on occasion when we clean their cages or handle them. I have no clue why they do it; perhaps they smell the females on our hands. They would make good spokesmen for viagra tho...hehe.
