If you only have had him a week, it is gonna take him awhile to settle in. Also how old is he? Most calm down as they reach adulthood, however some never do. It depends on the animal, as everyone is different. For now let him be, and do not handle him that much. Give him a few weeks to get used to his new home. Then begin to take him out and handle him a bit. After awhile he should calm down and realize you are not going to eat him..hehe. Good luck!
