Paul, I am sorry to hear about your loss...=(. If she was not fully grown yet, she should not have been put with the male. Crested geckos will sometimes mate at younger ages, however it does is not necessarily mean the female is ready to handle it. The gecko should at least be 14-18 months old and have plenty of weight before breeding is attempted. The younger females simply can’t take it. It sounds like your female might have been egg-bound, although I’m not sure if that was the case or if that is what killed her. On an additional note was this the female who had the “curved back”? If so that could have been a major factor.
