In Reply to: *Important*..About use of Mineral Oil from post below.... posted by mikecoscia on November 07, 2002 at 13:23:14:
My vet didn't say anything. She didn't say no or yes. Another vet told someone else to use it. I figured it would or should have been fine. He did however go to the bathroom the following night. I only used it twice and I don't intend to use it again. I used it strictly for emergency purposes. I felt helpless and scared for his health. For this reason I would rather be safe than sorry and will no longer use mineral oil on any of my reptiles.
I was a little confused.....can I use it on my hands or no.....
If this stuff is so bad how come they still have it in stores?
If the mineral oil does take nutrients from the body, what can I do to replenish them in my gecko. Currently I am feeding babyfood and giving water through a dropper, plus spraying the terrarium at least once or twice a day. I gave him 2 crix today because I thought he would be well enough to eat them.
Regarding both opinions I am glad you are all trying to help and are just as concerned about my reptiles as I am. I appreciate any infomoration or advise and am willing to take in both opinions. Though to be on the safe side, I will discontinue the use of this product. Thanks!
*****As per Drako (my crested) is doing better but still has slight circles under his eyes. His eyes are quite as sunk in either. I still hope he recovers 100%.
