HOW'DE YOU NAME YOURS??

Posted by Raymond Moreno on November 06, 2002 at 00:46:07:

Hey folks,

I was thinking about something earlier today, and decided to start a thread. The topic is:

WHY'DE YOU NAME YOUR ANIMALS THE WAY YOU DID?

For me, Iv'e never named my buddies till they arrived. (And honestly, I did not even think about it till I physically saw them).

The reason?

Because, in my mind, there will be some personality trait, or physical characteristic, that will help me to name them when I have a chance to get to know them. As an example:

My blue Nosey Be' Panther chameleon is named "Shoot," because of the way he SHOOTS-OUT his tongue to catch his food.

When I first received him, I had no idea what to call him. But when I saw him eat for the first time, it was a real shock to ACTUALLY see him do this. And the first thought that came into my mind was, "Man...he sure shoots his tongue pretty far". Hence, the name "Shoot" stuck with him.

Naming my cresty was a simple one. (Although kinda corny). The first thing that impressed me was his TOTALLY COOL ability to STICK to just about anything. (Although I've seen him jump onto a recently misted leaf...slide right over to it's edge...and wipe-out onto the cage floor - which had to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life). Bwaaaa-ha-ha-haaaa!!!

And my LEUCISTIC beardie is called, "Barnabas".

Why?

Cuz in the New Testament, Barnabas was considered a "true friend" to the apostle Paul, and traveled extensively with him on his missionary journeys.

Well that's my story...what about yours?

Reminisce in the memories, and share them wih us.

Enjoy.

In Christ: Raymond
