:Hi, I would like information on crested geckos. Not that new to herps, I have leopard geckos, a bearded dragon, a RES and had frogs & toads in the past. I want to get a pair and later try breeding them. Is a tank 18x18x16 good for one crested? How about two? Is $35 a good price for a male crested gecko w/o a tail? I might purchase one from Geckos Etc. Do female crested geckos need to be at a certain age to breed safetly? Thank you, sorry for all the questions.
I will try to answer a couple of your questions. A male for $35 is a good price, but make sure that he won't be to large for the female that you may get. Males are easy to come by and are usually much cheaper. A female needs to be about 10 - 12 months of age to be breedable and atlease 6 months of age to accurately sex. As for a cage setup, the larger the better. A 20 gal. is large enough for a pair, but a cage with more height is more suitable. As for Crested gecko care, check out some care sheets avaiable on the web.
Good luck with them
