Crested color changing as they mature??

I currently own a 2 1/2 month old Crested. In the pictures on the website of the breeder he was a yellow/orange. That was when he hatched out in early September. Now upon receiving him he is a bright orange/rust/reddish color. Looks great too..But is this type of color transition common for Cresteds?? I wouldn't know.
