In Reply to: Male R. auriculatus too skinny posted by Reptiluvr on October 29, 2002 at 20:41:19:

:I have a striped male R. auriculatus that I've had for about 4 months now. I bought him as a subadult at approx 7-9 months old (can't remember exactly). He didn't eat at all when I got him. He wouldn't eat crickets and didn't seem to care for babyfood either (peach, banana, apricot). I treated him with Panacur and noticed little to no results. Then I started to slowly see crickets disappear. I finally figured out I had him too cold (69-76 day through night). So I raised his temperatures to about 76-80 daytime, and around 75 at night, give or take a few degrees. Then I treated him with Flagyl to see if this helped. I gave him his treatment and he seemed to fill out more. This was about two weeks ago. Now he seems pretty skinny again and he's 11-13 months old still at sub-adult size. I don't see him eat and he still doesn't accept babyfood. I've given him some royal jelly to help stimulate his eating (recommended by a very reputable friend) and still nothing. I am losing patience and dont' know what to do. He should be a full grown fat chubby adult male but he still looks like a sub-adult and skinny. Any suggestions. Below are some pictures taken 8/31/02. This is during his fatter phase, but he's not so fat anymore. He's 7" total length and I just measured his stomach from the underside across is 1".
