Tiny Female crested

I have a 8 month old male crested that is 7.5" from head to tail. My female is 7 months old and is 6.5" from head to tail.
Are females always this small? Is there a problem? I have only had her for a month and she has grown 1/4". I do feed calcium and all that nutrious junk, but is this normal. My male is huge and A LOT more harder than her. I am breeding her this March or April and I am afraid she will feel threaten and/or not be able to handle egg laying. I have 2 separate terrariums for them and I am not leaving her in there for more than 3 - 5 days when I begin to breed.
Any help would be great! Thanks
