Sometimes the male will do the mating dance without mating. There is no way to tell if turtles have mated. There is no way to encourage females to want to mate...they make their own decisions;) If the turts mate you can end up with lots of eggs and babies over the years as females can retain sperm so next year she may lay fertile eggs without even mating...you may want to adopt out your male or female or keep them separate...the problem of homeless turtles has reached crisis levels...there are sliders in dog and cat pounds even
