excellent! I knew you can't stop capitalism.
I got mine around Thanksgiving last year and it was cold! The water but have been close to freezing and they had a bucket of like 50 baby RES. I had to rescue one.
:i got my new baby just last saturday in chinatown. actually i saw about 4 or 5 places with turtles. do they sell them in winter? of course i dont think theyre too concerned with the well-being on the turtles in 32 degree weather, but i dont think theyre as many tourists down there in the middle of winter. so i think they sell them when theres a lot of people there.

::I live in NYC and it used to be that you could walk down Chinatown and look for shops with buckets of baby RES. Lately the police have been cracking down with fines and jail time. All of a sudden, they are nowhere to be found.
::I got lucky and got one last November. If I see them pop out again, I'll post a heads up but its a decent trip from VT to NYC just to hope they are selling turts that day. I head up to Killington all the time but at least I know the mountains are always there. :)

:::i got mine in chinatown...but you can also order them off the internet by mail; if you are willing to risk the dangerous trip for the turt. i suggest wait til early summer and take a trip down to nyc chinatown. at least that way you are saving the turt from getting a bad home.

:::::Hi everyone. I am a relatively new slider owner and I got my turt from the pet store. I am guessing it is a he and that he is about 3 years old. In 6-12 months we are moving to a bigger house and I will be getting a bigger turt set up (right now I have a 40 gal breeder tank). At that time I would like to get a baby turt or two. Would my male tolerate the addition, do you think? Also, where on earth do you find baby RES'. The only pet store around here that carries turtles have HUGE ones - the smallest is about 4 inches. I want a baby. They are so cute! Any ideas? I live in Vermont..............
