I just thought of a possiblity...perhaps your baby turtle died and then the larger RES, being opportunistic feeders, ate the carcass? RES in the wild will eat dead animals...it is just too strange to imagine turtles hunting/attacking one another.
:I went to feed my 5 RES' tonight, only to discover the remnants of one of the smaller ones floating in the tank... basically just legs attatched to a vertebrae.
:I was shocked. None of them have ever shown any agressiveness to any others. I'm rather distressed and worried about the well-being of my turtles. I don't know if there's one perpetrator or if it was sort of like a turtle gangbang.
:I could at least understand if they have fought before, but they haven't. I also understand that aggressiveness is common when it comes to mating/territory/feeding reasons. But to the point of eating half of one of their tankmates? I've had them for about 6 months and know that I am feeding them enough. What's going on?
