Ah...I actually never tied carrots to fishing lines. I boil baby carrots until they're soft, then slice them. I feed them carrots (and sometimes also banana) in a separate container.
When I was training them to eat veggies, I would starve them for a day or so, and then give them veggies only. Because they were hungry and are born curious creatures, they tried the veggies and found them not bad. After that feeding them veggies was easy. I never gave them veggies and turtle sticks at the same time though...I know they would go right for the sticks and ignore veggies. :D
