Mine do something similar. Normal they scatter and hide when I enter the room. But when they're hungry, they swim to the side of the tank closest to me, poke their heads out the water and look at me with their bright eyes full of expectation. I tell you, it's hard to refuse them food when faced with such a cute expression... I try to give them veggies when it's not their meal time yet. :-)
I read in some of the previous posts that turtles vocalize when they beg. I assume these are adults 'cos my babies are quiet. What does it sound like?
