Mating?????

My male and female turtle are mature enough to mate, and my male turtle has a sudden interst in the female, he always looks at her, looks at her bottom for some reson and seems really uncomfortable with her, the only time he stops staring at her is when eating! but the female doesn't even notice him, whats going on????
