Ideas on homemade basking spots..

Well, I have a couple of basking spots that my dad made for me out of wood, right now i keep them still with a little slope of river rocks, but i'd like to put in the tank some more water, cause i'd like my turtles to exercise, right now theyre practically crawling. So i was wondering if you could give me some advice on keeping them still, something homemade too, here in my country they dont sell such thing as turtle ramps or any other kind of basking spot.
