:Hi i just went to the hognose forum and saw an picreport of an hognosebite.. now my question is .. can i compair this bite with an bite of an Oligodon?? have any of you guys some good websites about this snake? I only can find little info on the net
:thanx
They have very large cutting teeth which can cause deep, slashing cut wounds. Bite wounds bleed for a considerable period of time (e.g., stil bleeding the following morning following a late evening bite in one acquaintance), which suggests a substantial effect on blood coagulation. Permanent scars can also result from a good bite. I have also heard of pain and swelling
You can download a .pdf of a paper in which this is discussed from the link below (Wuster & Cox, J. Herpetology, 1992)
Cheers,
Wolfgang
