In order to offer any information we'll need to be certain which particular genus of snakes you are talking about. The name "Harlequin snakes" refers to snakes of the genus Micrurus (more commonly called "coral snakes"), the African genus Homoroselaps, and I've also heard it referring to some South American colubrids. Give us a latin name and we can help you out.
