In Reply to: Are b. dendrophila temperments like macklot pythons? n/p posted by coluguy on September 01, 2002 at 11:05:14:

I've kept both of these snakes. My macklot's python was 10 times more aggressive than my mangrove is. Actually, the macklot's was the only snake I've ever known that would actually go on the offensive, that is, come to you just to bite you. He would nail you over and over. The mangrove, however, is a total sweetheart. She has never bitten anyone here, and hardly ever goes into a defensive posturing. However, from what I understand, I have the rarity when it comes to mangroves. Lots of people's mangroves are aggressive, and will also strike repeatedly. So each snake is different, and have their own temperaments. Try not to go for "stereotypical," because there are always exceptions to the rule.
