Thanks for the post, but I don't really "get" from your description the subltle differences in neonates. Amazing that more info is not available for this "secret" Pantherophis (haha, first time I use the word).
If you can post pics someday of the differences, or simply a couple shots of TX and Mex hatchlings, I, and others, sure would appreciate it. As far as i know, you are the "go-to guy" in Bairds info right now. If anyone else is familiar with bith morphs, I don't know who it may be.
Anyway, the reason I ask is that I have a baby from an unknown source, and have no idea what it is, exactly. Not only that, in Baird's ratsnakes, brownish coloration in neonates could simply be due to a more rapid coloration development.
I may look into gatting a few Mexicans just to further research the matter.
I have seen several at Herp expos from Davis mountains and some of them had a slight brownish tint, another vendors from the same general locale were an even steel gray. The one I have is a light "brushed metal" gray, but have no ideas as to its origins.
