It is a VERY good idea to quarantine all new animals, be it WC or CB, for atleast 45 days (I prefer 90 but most people prefer 45-60). Fecal tests for parasites should not be more than $15, some vets do not even charge for it, and many times fellow herpers will do them for free (I will do them for free, for anyone in my area BTW), and all CB and WC will harbor some load. If your vet tells you that "This animal is free of parasites", get a new vet.
Due to the way many asian species are kept in the markets, parasites are a big concern
:Just to make you feel sure in a decision not to get WC Mandarins. I thought of buying a WC one from an un-named, online store ;) After alot of research and the thought of buying a WC animal that I will not get to examine before it comes to my house really turned me off of the idea. I did not want a parasite infested animal coming into my collection and infesting my other snakes. I am just going to wait a few years until these snakes are more common and the price comes down.
