Spilotes are naturally very flat and slender snakes, so unless you see ripes and a spine jutting out, I wouldn't be too worried. And as terry also recommended, i'd ask the breeder when it ate last. Also how big is this snake? It may prefer something with a little fur like a fuzzie/crawler if its big enough to take it. It may not be interested in the pink because its too small or not "mousey" smelling enough. Plus again, as terry said below, its probably still stressed. As for keeping the temps up, what kind of cage is it in, and how are you heating it? If its in a tank with a screen lid and a heat lamp, try foiling over the top then draping a towel or blanket over the space left by the heatlamp. This tends to hold in heat as well as humidity really well. Just make sure it doesn't get TOO hot. If it does, roll back the foil/towl enough for some more air ciculation and to leat some heat escape. Hope this helps..

:Hi;I just acquired a captive bred baby Spilotes 1 week ago that is a bit on the thin side. I live in the northeast where it has been extremely cold, and despite all efforts made by those of us keeping reptiles in this climate, many reptiles are effected by the cold no matter what we do!
:That said, my question is on feeding, as I realize an acclimation period is necessary, but also am a bit concerned about the underweight condition of this snake. I'm looking for techniques to get my baby started feeding, as my first attempt failed with pinkies today. She did show some interest, but even when isolated with the food refused to eat . Also she has been staying on the bottom of her enclosure while she gets used to her new home, but has been venturing further from her hide on a daily basis. Temps are in the low to mid 80's.
:Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
:Thank you!
