:Simon,
:I'm far from an expert on Gonyosoma and certainly would defer to the opinion of anyone who has produced F2's, but...
:I have one CB baby, one LTC proven female, and also have 2.2 that are recent imports (from small to large).
:And I can tell you that once the babies are eating on their own they are extremely easy to keep. In fact they're easier than anyting else I keep. My LTC female is also extremely healthy and is a snake I just don't worry about.
:The WC's are problematic. From my small sample size the key is to get them early. I mean find an importer you trust and find out when a shipment is coming in. And then pay extra to have him or her send you the quality stuff.
:The specimens I've had that sat around in the importer shops have crashed and burned after I recieved them.
:Hope this helps a bit.
Chris,
I've never kept them, but a friend had a pair for a while. He had a green one and one of the greyish morphs. Beautiful animals but very aggressive. I believe they were wild-caughts.
Our Toronto Zoo here in Ontario, Canada had an awesome display at one time with some VERY large adult Gonyosoma. I could have stood and watched them all day!
I know that there are a few well-acclimated animals in the hands of two or three very capable Canuck breeders, so I'm hoping that some captive-bred youngsters may become available in the next couple of years.
It sounds as though you've got quite a nice little group. I'm glad they're thriving for you and I wish you all possible success with them.
Cheers!
Simon
