Actually, the population in Texas has simply had its habitat plowed up to grow cabbage, aloe vera, and citrus. In Belize, they are among the most commonly seen snakes. I agree that they are a beautiful snake that should be brought into the hobby. An added benefit would be that their diet is considerably broader than most "racer types"--they even eat toads!
