Brian, I have offered on several occasions, smaller snakes to Son. whips to have them hold out for lizards or mice [unlike flagellum who Ive had eat snakes w/ relish even while fresh in a pillow case!].
I believe you are the first to cyber-document this behavior for bilineatus tho! From an ecological perspective, I have long pondered the abundance of patchnoses in nastycophis habitat...you'd think the competition for prey coupled w/ predation as you found, would leave Salvadora somewhere back in the fossil record!
